Jayne writes:

“I am just loving this e-book! (The Gluten Syndrome). http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/58338. This chapter really hits home with me. I have been treated like a hypochondriac all my life. Even after my diagnosis, I have trouble getting my doctor to take me seriously! I complained about the same symptoms for 40+ years and finally had my mother diagnose me!"

She goes on to describe her problem:

"My symptoms were not typical. Oh sure, I had the usual stuff like chronic diarrhea and bloating (which were mis-diagnosed as Irritable Bowel Syndrome), and mood swings. (They treated me for Bi-polar disorder) I also had the really annoying itchy, burny rash thing on the back of my head and occasionally on my elbows and knees (I was treated for Eczema and Psoriasis).

The big one, the one that signaled a real problem was the sudden periods of disorientation, when I didn’t recognize my surroundings or people I actually knew!! I was also having spells where I was extremely dizzy (diagnosed as Labrynthitis).

Although I had been plagued by most of these symptoms for as long as I can remember, no one ever connected them.

Finally, my mother saw an episode of Mystery Diagnosis (2005) about a boy named Eamon Murphy, who had moments where he just blanked out the rest of the world and his mother refused to believe he had Autism. His doctors finally put him on a Gluten Free diet and his symptoms disappeared.

I convinced my doctor to schedule me for an Endoscopy/Colonoscopy. I was finally diagnosed with Celiac disease."

Thank You!

Great books- explain very well PDF Print E-mail
Dear Dr Ford,
Thanks very much for talking to me recently and for forwarding copies of your books.  They are most appreciated and will help me with patients who want to know more about gluten and allergies in relation to their health.  They are great books and explain things very well.  This is an area that was not well covered in Medical School or in my recent GP training.
Thanks very much.
Kind regards,
Dr Alison Goodwin

Maze ebook great reading PDF Print E-mail

The 'How to Navigate the Allergy Maze' was great reading, it started me looking in the Marcus diet again as we have has a recent flare up, but not eczema but an allergic reation which was put down to to its just a 'virus'.

Lots of people have downloaded this eBook -  the purpose is to get people thinking about the possibilities of food allergy/intolerance if there are ongoing symptoms/ illness that remain unexplained.
